Die casting is metal pressure casting performed on a die-casting machine. It is the earliest process with the highest industrial production efficiency. Die-casting machines used for production are generally divided into two categories: cold-chamber die-casting machines and hot-chamber die-casting machines. So what are the differences between these two types of die-casting machines? To sum up, there are the following points:
1. The parts of the die-casting machine have different degrees of heat resistance.
The hot-chamber die-casting machine has a high degree of automation, less material loss, and higher production efficiency than the cold-chamber die-casting machine. However, its heat resistance is relatively limited, so it can currently only be used to produce castings made of low melting point materials such as zinc alloys and magnesium alloys. Due to its special structural characteristics, the cold chamber die-casting machine has a higher degree of heat resistance, it can be widely used in the die casting of high-melting-point aluminum alloy die-casting parts.
2. The product structure is different.
The pressure chamber of the hot chamber die-casting machine is immersed in the liquid metal of the heat-insulated melting crucible. The injection parts are not directly connected to the machine base but are directly mounted on the crucible. The advantages of this die-casting machine are a simple production process, high efficiency, low metal loss, and a stable process.
However, the pressure chamber and the injection head are immersed in the metal liquid for a long time, which affects the service life and easily increases the iron content of the metal solution.
Cold chamber die-casting machines are divided into two types: horizontal die-casting machines and three-dimensional die-casting machines (including fully vertical die-casting machines) according to the structure of their pressure chambers. However, no matter which type, the pressure chamber and holding furnace of the cold chamber die-casting machine are separate. During die casting, the metal liquid is taken out from the holding furnace and poured into the pressure chamber for die casting. This production process is relatively troublesome, but it is characterized by a wider range of uses, stable performance, and longer service life.
