The black chromate mainly involves surface treatment technology,

Die-cast products usually need to be surface-treated to


improve their physical and chemical properties.


Black chromate treatment is a common surface treatment method


that improves the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of


the product by forming a passivation film on the surface of


the die-casting.


This treatment not only protects the die-casting from erosion


of the external environment, but also enhances its


service life and aesthetics. ‌



Specifically, the process of black chromate treatment includes


several key steps: ‌



1. Surface cleaning:


First, the die-casting needs to be thoroughly


cleaned to remove contaminants that may remain during the manufacturing


process, such as polishing fluids, particle cuttings, and mold release


agents.


This is usually done by using wet chemical techniques, such


as aqueous surfactant solutions (which may contain acids or organic solvents). ‌

2. Deburring and vibration blasting: 


After cleaning, sharp corners and edges on metal parts are rounded to remove


small debris and raised edges.


This step is completed by vibratory shot blasting, a common method in mass


production, which can effectively eliminate residues that affect quality


and make the surface of the workpiece smooth. ‌



3. Chromating: 


After proper cleaning and deburring, the die casting can be chromated.


This step can form a passivation film on the surface of the die-cast aluminum alloy,


which can be colorless to yellow and does not affect the surface resistance, thereby


providing additional protection against corrosion. ‌For die castings that require higher


corrosion resistance requirements, spraying can be performed after chromatin


to further improve the protective effect. ‌



4. Wear-resistant and high-temperature-resistant coating:


In addition to the basic anti-corrosion function, chromates,


and dichromates can also be used as additives for wear-resistant


coatings to improve the hardness and wear resistance of the


coating. ‌This coating is suitable for floors, industrial


equipment, and other fields, and can effectively resist wear


and scratches. In addition, due to the high thermal stability of


chromates and dichromates, they can also be used in high-temperature


resistant coatings to protect materials from maintaining good


stability and performance in high-temperature environments. ‌
